This certainly is a collection for those who prefer a more muted nail look and despite being entitled the Laura Mercier Summer Nudes Collection in my opinion this line up is far more suited for the Autumn season.
A line up of warm, fuzzy and entirely wearable neutral shades that are both classic and rich, not to mention there should be a shade for all tastes.
All in there are six shades to choose from - five of which I have to share today. Unlike some brands Laura Mercier has recognised that the term "nude" means many things to many people and have included various interpretations to suit all skin tones and of course preferences. The six shades are Bare Angel, Bare Rose, Bare Haze, Bare Mocha, Bare Espresso and Cocoa Suede.
Bare Angel - is listed as a soft, pale pink and I agree, this shade is what I deem to be a ballet pink and as a result is a sheer milky pink. For a polished look one coat lightens the nails and provides a high sheen finish but for a full opaque coverage you will need three coats. On the plus side this can double up as the pink option in a French manicure.
Bare Rose - Laura Mercier describe this a soft mauve and again such description is spot on. Bare Rose is a dusky pink with a slight bright pink pearlescent finish which is only evident in certain lights and is subtle. This shade required two coats to become opaque but in my opinion it looks best with three coats.
Bare Haze - If you like griege/concrete shades this is a must buy for you this "cool slate" hue is perfection. Not only is the shade a modern classic but this creme formula is opaque in one quick coat. Snap it up now while you can as this limited edition shade will not be around forever.
Cocoa Suede - Admittedly this rich yellow based brown better described on the Laura Mercier as a chocolate brown is not for me but I can not fault the application. One quick coat and this polish is fully opaque with a high glossy finish.
Bare Expression - A deeper than deep brown "rich coffee bean" surprised me greatly, I'm not one for brown nails in the slightest but as this shade is so deep and almost vampy it makes a great and albeit softer alternative to a black. Again this only required one coat for full opaque coverage and has a super glossy finish.
