I used to be the hugest fan of Miami Ink and may or may not a little girl crush on Kat Von D - I still secretly wish I was a bad ass heavily tattooed woman but for fear of being shunned by my family my seven small tattoos will have to suffice...for now! However I can live my dreams out via Kat Von D's make-up line which is so much better than I ever imagined, speaking of which you have to try out the blush line!
I wish I wasn't such a stickler for packaging but I am and sadly I'm not the hugest fan of the Kat Von D Everlasting Face Shaper Blush line when it comes to how they are presented. The whole styling just screams cheap and it looks almost child like. A fairly bulky black plastic flip top container holds the blush which features some rose detailing and large mirror inside. Now don't get me wrong it is robust but when you are paying $25 which is the same price bracket as NARS et all you expect something a little less dare I say it cheap in terms of appearance. Oh I am a fickle being!
To the best of my knowledge aka the Sephora website there are six shades available within the Kat Von D Everlasting Face Shaper Blush range. Despite being a more muted coral fan I plumped for Por Vida which is listed as a warm pink but to elaborate a little further I would say Por Vida is a bright almost neon mid toned pink with a yellow undertone. Por Vida has a slight sheen finish but no shimmer flecks or glitter for that matter, it almost has an illuminating quality. I don't have any outright dupes but MAC Salsa Rose comes pretty close.
The packaging may not be great but the formula is on par with Tarte 12 Hour Clay Blushes in that both offer highly pigmented colours that wear exceptionally well. Truthfully I do think Tarte have the nicer formula of the two as it is softer and less prone to fall out. The Kat Von D blushes do have a slightly drier texture which can produce a little product fall out but there is no denying that they are intensely pigmented and do not cling to dry areas of the face nor will they highlight imperfections such as open pores or fine lines. Although intensely packed with pigment you can easily build this shade up without it caking or looking heavy and again despite the colour levels it can be buffered out to a softer finish. The Kat Von D blushes are supposed to wear for up to 24 hours which is of course an over stretch on my oily skin when primed Por Vida wears for closer to 10 hours which is still great regardless.
The Kat Von D make-up line is not readily available within the UK but you can easily find it on eBay with prices for the blush starting around £16 - link

The Kat Von D lock it foundation is on my wishlist too
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try this when I go to the US! Agree about the packaging, swapped for the eyeshadow palette in Saint and the lid doesn't even stay in one place when I flip it open! Although the formula's excellent, so that makes up for it! xo
