Have you noticed that the current mascara trend seems to be the bigger the brush the better?
Go big or go home buddy!
Go big or go home buddy!
Personally I struggle with large mascara wands and tend to make a mess so when I first saw that the newest Clarins mascara comes complete with a slightly smaller than average wand I let out a sigh of relief.
Bye bye smudges.
Bye bye smudges.
As you can see from the above images Clarins Be Long Mascara comes presented within a sleek brushed bright gold tube that looks, feels luxe and is one of the lightest mascaras I own in terms of weight despite containing 7ml. Now back to that wand which is smaller in size (nearly half of a typical wand head but not as small as Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara) and is constructed of plastic bristles which are not only flexible but act as a built in lash comb. Normally I prefer fibre wands but I will hold my hands up and say that this style works rather well with my flimsy and poker straight lashes.
Now for the crazy eye images...sorry!
I struggle a lot with mascara's as I have sensitive eyes (due to hayfever in the summer months) which do have a tendency to stream and yet I hate waterproof formula's. I have poker straight eyelashes which are easily weighed down by mascara formulas, not to mention I have fairly sparse lashes to boot. As you can see finding a decent mascara is less than easy but Clarins Be Long ticks a good few boxes, the extreme black option is just that a black than black mascara. The formula is light, doesn't flake and should you wish to use with an eyelash curler it will hold a curl. One coat is enough for a natural look yet you can build it up for a more dramatic effect without it clumping (I went for my usual two coats). No it doesn't add tremendous volume but it more than delivers in the promise of granting additional length to the lashes without looking over the top. Like most I prefer an easy to remove formula and this is just that - a quick swipe of eye make-up remover and job done.
All in all a brilliant everyday mascara that can be applied in layers for a more dramatic look come night fall.
Thumbs up from me!

The packaging of this is really nice, classic Clarins but very sleek! It makes your bottom lashes look lovely!

ReplyDeleteI love the look of the tube, im a sucker for simple packaging, there's just something so elegant about it. I hate how big some mascara wands are too, my eyes are pretty small so i find they don't work well for me, this sounds really great x
ReplyDeleteIt sounds amazing! I really want to try it xx

A Beautiful Zen
I hate the huge mascara wand trend, too! I have small, hooded eyes so those huge wands make it really tricky. I quite like the L'Oreal Telescopic wands (the plastic-y ones), along with Maybelline Cat Eyes (which is thin and curved), and the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill. It's kind of flat on one side, which definitely helps with the application (plus it's a great mascara)!

I love mascara, it is my go to but whilst this looks very snazzy, I need my volume, bigger the better haha :)
