Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Lucent Glow

Imagine if you could capture the shimmering golden tones of NARS Albatross Highlighter or any golden based highlighter for that matter and create a natural looking lip product of such hue.
Well imagine no more as Pixi have done just that with their Tinted Brilliance Balm in Lucent Glow.

I have made no secret that I have a weakness for Pixi's packaging - there is just something rather special and dare I say it cute about their pistachio green colour scheme which is more often than not adorned with a pretty floral pattern or two. Pixi's Tinted Brilliance Balms are your typical chunky lip crayon that has a wind up mechanism in the base to prevent waste from sharpening and to also be convenient when on the go.

At the moment there is 10 shades within the Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm range with a shade for every complexion and taste. As mentioned in the opening paragraph Lucent Glow is a light golden hued product that lightly adds a sheen of luminous yet pearlescent golden tinged pink to the lips. The colour is far from opaque and will look different on every person as the end result is very much dependent on the wearers natural lip hue. Lucent Glow does have a slight shimmery finish and also features tiny particles of multicoloured glitter none of which feel gritty on the lips and the overall effect is very subtle.

Chunky lip crayons are nothing new and pretty much every high street brand, their mother and further afield for that matter have presented their offerings in the last few months so of course the Pixi offering would have to be pretty special to hold its own and that it does. Unlike most of the tinted lip balms I have tried over the years none have really come up trumps in terms of texture, some are too waxy others are too soft and then you have those that are not hydrating in the slightest but the Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balms are just right - firm yet hydrating and not at all waxy! The Pixi offering glides on to the lips, moisturising and softening as it goes all the while providing a subtle of colour with a slight sheen finish. My only compliant is that this balm does not contain an SPF, add an SPF and I would deem this to be my favourite tinted lip balm ever. In terms of wear I typically achieve around an hour or so before fading occurs but that is the norm when it comes to tinted lip balms.
