I have have always been a little hyper critical when it comes to BB Creams and CC Creams for that matter
and still stand by the stance that on the whole they are one of the most over rated beauty products I have encountered. However I urge you all to try out Vichy's Idealia BB Creme it may just change your views on BB Creams forever...
More often than not BB/CC heck we even have DD Creams on the way are nothing more than a tinted moisturiser with a fancy name nothing more, nothing less which is disappointing considering most promise the earth and beyond. Vichy Idealia BB Creme claims to be a 6-in-1 product with a formula that sets to work to illuminate the skin both in the short and long term, hydrates for up to 24 hours, smooth and diffuse wrinkles, refines the skin's texture, reduces the appearance of dark spots, and protects the skin with advanced UVA/UVB protection of SPF 25. Pretty impressive on paper wouldn't you agree but does it deliver?
Yes - no make that a big fat yes! I am honestly blown away by Vichy Idealia BB Creme which by now you will have gathered doesn't happen all that often but this light base product does all it claims to do and more.
At the moment the Idealia BB Creme line only comes in two shades : Light and Medium - Light is a great neutral shade that runs rather light and should suit most fair complexions, medium again runs fairly neutral and should be a decent enough match for most light-medium skin tones. The texture of this BB Cream is light and somewhat runny like a liquid foundation but as soon as it goes on to the skin it evens out the skin tone, conceals and brightens instantly. For a BB Cream the coverage is great and more than enough for most skin types to skip concealer in most instances. The beauty of Vichy's Idealia BB Creme is that you can wear it sheer on a good skin day but build up coverage in areas should you require to. I liken it a little to MAC's Face and Body Foundation in that aspect but somehow I find this more comfortable on the skin not to mention more brightening without the need for shimmer particles.
Mole has been included as a reference point in terms of coverage.
As many will know by now I have oily skin which BB/CC Creams and tinted moisturisers do not tend to favor at all - most subside to the excess sebum and slide off within a matter of hours. Of course you can set with primers, powder and finishing sprays but for me that defeats the purpose as most of us will reach for such products when all we want is a light base to even out the skin tone. Although the shade Light is a smidgen too light for my skin tone I did put it to the test without a primer or finishing product to see how well it wore and if it could be the perfect product for my summer holiday and shockingly the answer is yes. Without a primer or setting product of any kind Vichy Idealia BB Creme wore for close to 6 hours on my oily skin, yes it my t-zone did have a little shine going on around the five hour mark but oddly it looked okay with the dewy finish of this BB Cream and as this is thoroughly hydrating it will help to keep skin soft and subtle in the warm weather and allow those with a drier skin type to slick this on without worrying about it clinging to dry patches.
Sorry other BB Creams your time is up - Vichy's Idealia BB Creme rules the roost as far as I am concerned.

I would totally agree with you on the BB and CC cream situation. It's something I just never got, I have always been disappointed with any of them. If you've been converted, maybe this is something I need to try! I will have to investigate if it comes in pale shades, that's usually my next problem!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great post!

Thanks for this post, the BB cream sounds excellent! I have really fair skin though, so I would want to make sure that it isn't too orange or anything. It's quite a good price too, compared to some others out there!

I haven't tried any BB creams yet (too many on the market to even choose from), but this one sounds promising... really tempted to try it now :D.
ReplyDeleteI love BB creams in the summer, I have yet to try a CC cream but I'm very excited to! I love the sound of this, the packaging reminds me of the Dior BB cream! Great review :) ♥

I find the BB cream situation a little like the beauty box situation, over hyped and still haven't found one that ticks all the boxes. I've been trying this one out lately and I still can't make my mind up about it, i've neglected it a little lately and after reading this posts i'm going to make sure to give it a proper whirl!

Ginvera is still the best BB cream for me!
ReplyDeleteI haven't jumped on the bb or cc bandwagon yet, there are a billion choices out there. I have to admit I'm liking the look of this one or the Clarins one that everyone is raving about.
ReplyDeleteI might have to see what all the fuss is about.

ReplyDeleteGotta love this blog! <3
Like you, I'm a total sceptic when it comes to BBs and CCs and have hated every one I've tried so far, so maybe I should try this one too and see if it makes me eat my words! Generally, I have found them to make my skin look worse rather than better, and bar the Diorskin Nude one I haven't had the desire to try any more until now.

I converted to the BB cream world with the one from Nivea. But one day perhaps I'm gonna try the one from Shiseido because the SPF it's bigger and my skin color it's too white. But I excited to put the hands on a CC Cream :)

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like such a lovely product! I'm not really sold on the whole bb/cc hype either but I might give this a go!

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you with the BB cream trend and have never tried one because I don't believe what they promise, but after reading your post I'm definitively going to give this one a chance!
