When it comes to MAC I already have a problem in resisting new collections but should there be a few MSF's in said collection, well i'm done for. Within MAC's newest collection for summer 2013 - Tropical Taboo there is five MSF's to be collected, three limited edition and two permanent. The three that won't be around forever came home with me!
By now most will be familiar with the packaging of MAC's Mineralize Skin Finishes, if not they are essentially in the same style of casing as the brands blushes - matte black with a transparent window so you can see the shade held within only on a larger scale. Basic to some degree but it works.
The five Mineralize Skin Finishes within the Tropical Taboo Collection are : Gold Deposit, Soft and Gentle, Adored, Rio and Lust. Gold Deposit and Soft & Gentle are both permanent and not exclusive to this collection, the other three are limited edition. Basically MAC Mineralize Skin Finishes a.k.a MSF's are large discs of shimmering powder that have varying degrees of pigmentation that allow them to be used as either highlighters, bronzers or blushes dependent on product colour and your own complexion of course.
Adored - The MAC website list this as a "coral shade with light beige" and to some extent I agree but to go a little further I would describe the coral as a bright orange shade with minimal pink tones and the beige is more of a shimmering champagne hue. When combined the overall shade is a light frosty peach which should work as a blush on paler complexions but is better suited to being a highlight option for medium to dark skin tones.
Lust - Officially listed as a "pale pink with cranberry pearl" and in this instance I feel that sums up Lust wonderfully. The pink segments are a pale icy type pink that leans fairly cool in tone and the cranberry waves have a slight brown tinge. This is clearly the most blush orientated MSF out of the three and when the two shades combine the end result is a pink that leans slightly coral in some lights and bronze in others.
Rio - In my opinion Rio is not all that different from Lust, listed as a "bronze with pink pearl" you can see from the get go that the two are similar. The main difference is that the pink pigment in the Rio MSF is a slightly brighter candy pink but the bronze areas don't differ in tone all that much from Lust - a reddened bronze hue that could pass for Cranberry hue. Much like Adored the end result is a light shimmery pale peachy pink that reminds me a smidgen of MAC Stereo Rose.
As pretty as each shade appears in the pan I have to say that overall I am disappointed in the three limited edition MSF's I feel the shades should have been more varied and certainly have a little more pigmentation too!
The MAC Tropical Taboo Limited Edition MSF's retail for £21.50/7g each via MAC - link
Random Fact - A Galapagos Tortoise owned by Steve Irwin's Zoo that died in 2006 was originally a pet of Charles Darwin in 1835...crazy!

I wonder if Lust or Rio would be a dupe for the Estee Lauder Tease blush that was LE? I have ordered both and have the EL so I'll have a look when they arrive-mine havent even been dispatched yet nevermind hit Dubai! xx
ReplyDeleteLust is such a pretty colour!
