For a number of years I have always admired MAC's Strobe Cream but have always walked away empty handed from the MAC counters as pink based highlighters just don't gel with my skin tone. So you can only imagine how excited I was when I noticed that MAC's Temperature Rising Collection offered a golden toned version - MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion in Golden Elixir.
Now don't quote me on this but I believe that MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion in Golden Elixir is limited edition or at least at the very moment it is and that is why you can only get it in one size unlike the original.Truthfully I have always preferred the packaging of the large Strobe Cream to the smaller version as it comes in pump bottle that is not only much easier to use and control the amount of product you dispense not to mention it is mess free.
MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion in Golden Elixir is the bronze based liquid highlighting product we have all been waiting for MAC to deliver and deliver they have! The rich, warm toned bright gold tones of Golden Elixir may be a little daunting at first glance but once completely blended into the skin it works with your natural skin tone to add a little touch of golden shimmer that is subtle and warming at the same time. Some golden toned products may be a little too orange based for fairer skin tones and leave a muddy effect but as this one is sheer you needn't worry about such problems but if you do have a light complexion I would still apply with a light hand.
The uses for MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion in Golden Elixir is countless, you can mix a little in with your foundation to add a warm, golden glow to the face, you can use it in the same way you would a liquid highlighter to attract attention to the cheekbones and other areas of the face. However this can also be used on the body for a little summer glow and between you and me a little blended down the shin bones not only adds a sexy shimmer effect but also gives the illusion of longer pins. Most importantly when used on the face the effect, is light and natural all the while given that much desired light from within effect that is oh so desirable (damn you Jennifer Lopez). If like myself you have enlarge pores then again you need not worry as the shimmer element of MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion in Golden Elixir is so subtle that it does not draw attention such problem areas.
All in all a huge winner and a product that I sincerely hope is permanent or is on its way to becoming so as it has holy grail status for me slapped all over it!
