As some may know I splurged on Chanel's Healthy Glow Pressed Powder - review link and was sadly rather disappointed so the search for the perfect light but mattifying pressed powder continued. As I rather enjoy Estee Lauder products particularly their bases and foundations I turned to them to solve my powder woes and in turn found Estee Lauder Invisible Powder Make-Up.
Estee Lauder Invisible Powder Make-Up comes presented within a typical Estee Lauder navy compact complete with the gold Estee Lauder logo - chic, timeless and familiar is how I always describe the Estee Lauder brand and their packaging. Once you open the compact you are greeted with a good sized and great quality mirror and a hidden compartment that contains a powder puff for application on the go. Truthfully I don't recommend using the powder puff and find this powder to apply best with a face brush.
Unlike other pressed powders the Estee Lauder Invisible Powder Make-Up comes in a whooping 15 shades from very light to deep - for once I can honestly say that there is a shade for everyone! As I have rather oily skin that tends to encourage most face products to oxidize over the course of wear I more often than not go for a shade lighter than my own skin tone. In the end I went for shade 2CN1 Pure Beige which I would say is approximately akin to MAC's NC30 or just a smidgen deeper, either way it is a great light medium shade that is fairly cool in tone and as it is sheer it doesn't leave my skin with a white cast.
Please note that my swatches above are with a heavy hand and are to show the shade and satin finish rather than the coverage level.
I am going to go out a limb here and deem this to be the best sheer pressed powder I have tried out thus far. Estee Lauder Invisible Powder Make-Up mattifies the skin and sets make-up all the while looking fresh and sheer. Those like myself who have enlarged pores need not worry as this gentle powder does not settle into pores or fine lines. On the skin it feels light and has a velvet like texture that doesn't cake or look heavy on the skin and most importantly I find it to keep my skin matte for at least 7 hours. If you require a certain element of coverage from your pressed powder this is not for you but if like myself you use pressed powder to set your make-up and to keep excess oil at bay I highly suggest trailing Estee Lauder Invisible Powder Make-Up. This is everything I hoped Chanel Healthy Glow Powder would be and more!

This is very reminiscent of MAC's product and design and a little more costly. It looks interesting and i would definitely give it a try.

Would you ever consider blotting powders! I find they seem to do the job if you're looking for something that's purely mattifying, as it doesn't build up so is perfect for use throughout the day
