Last week myself and my good friend Lori popped along to the Metropolitan Bar in Glasgow City Center for a night of Beauty Speed Dating hosted by itison. Basically what Beauty Speed Dating is exactly what it sounds like, over the course of the night groups visit various brands in which they have a select amount of time to sell themselves to you and of course answer any questions.
Honestly I can't remember two out of the four brands that were there to display their goods, one was a hairdressing/beauty shop that should be up my street but the woman spoke far too quietly and I lost interest quick. I realise that makes me an epic biatch but my attention span is shockingly bad and if you don't reign me in from the get go you've lost me. That being said she did do a wonderful job of Lori's hair turning it into a mane of loose beach waves among other styles in-between.
There was also an extremely overpriced brow brand product there which truth be told was extortionate for what it is. I'm sure the brow palette which was pretty small all things considered retailed for around the £40 mark. In my opinion very few brands can justify that price point and Chanel they were not. I'll be sticking with the likes of Benefit for my brow needs.
Luckily there was two great brands displaying which in my opinion utterly made the night. First up and easily my favourite of the whole event had to be DIY Nails which is owned and ran by the creative genius that is Tammy. Honestly she came across as one of the most loveliest girls ever and her nail skills are nothing short of extraordinary, I have since bought two sets of her nail decals and insist you check out the burger and chips set I'm dying to play around with - link.
The make-up gods that happen to Illamasqua were also on hand to show us how to transform everyday make-up into a sultry evening look which included a rather funky ombre lip look and the use of Illamasqua's Android Pigment which has sky rocketed to the top of my lust list amongst other Illamasqua goodies!
If you happen to live in Scotland or are perhaps visiting I can't recommend checking out itsison -link enough for events and things to do when out and about - the prices are cheap and the staff are great!
I'm hoping for a follow up to the Beauty Speed Dating night soon.
Let me know if you enjoy this kind of post and I will post more of my "adventures" so to speak.
Disclaimer - I attended the above event as a guest of itison and did not pay the entrance fee but as you can probably tell my opinions are very much my own ha!

This actually sounds like a lot of fun, wish I had something like this near me!

Oh cool, I was at that event too! Looks like you were in a different group from me though! DIY Nails were my favourite as well :) I liked the brow products (brow-wise I need ALL the help I can get, haha!) and the Illamasqua demo was fab!
