Barry M Sequin Nail Paints

The Barry M Sequin Nail Paints landed on my doorstep this morning and I couldn't wait to swatch them. Oddly they are quite unlike I had imagined, I assumed they would be similar to the likes to Illasamqua's Speckle polishes but they are in-fact worlds apart. The best way to describe the Barry M Sequin Nail Paints is to state that they are textured nail polishes in which glitter particles have been added so they dry rough and are not at all like your typical matte glitter nail paint. On the plus side each shade only needed two coats to become opaque.

The textured effect is most prominent within the Black Barry M Sequin Nail Paint, initially this was the shade I was least excited about and couldn't understand why Barry M wanted to launch another black/gold glitter medley  However once applied it takes on an almost reptile effect and reminds me of a pair of black Alexander McQueen shoes Lady Gaga wore once. It is bizarre and an ugly pretty polish, if you like something a little out of the norm this is the shade to go for from the Barry M Sequin Nail Paint collection.

Next up we have the white Barry M Sequin Nail Paint which has the most confetti vibe out of the three. The white base with bright multi-coloured glitter has a whimsical almost circus feel and is the shade that the textured effect shows up the least once applied.

Barry M Sequin Nail Paint in Pink was the shade I was most excited about yet is my least favourite, the candy floss pink base doesn't really sit well amongst the bright glitter particles nor is the textured grit finish a good match. I want to like it but I don't and I would like to revoke my earlier comparison to this being a good dupe for Nails Inc Topping Lane polish, they are not at all comparable at all.

Sadly the Barry M Sequin Nail Paints do not live up to my pastel glitter fulled dreams and fell a little short of the mark. The problem is that in the promotional images they appeared to be far more milky in terms of base and did give the illusion that they would contain pastel glitter flecks which has not turned out to be the case.
A nice idea and a great price but a little disappointing all the same.

The three Barry M Sequin Nail* paints will launch on May 8th for £3.99 each.
