Beauty sample boxes have been around quite some while now and are often greeted with mixed reactions, some of us adore them and have a monthly subscription others not so much.
I will be the first to admit that I grew jaded of the boxes not so long ago but I do feel that in the recent months the brand leaders have improved and with the addition of new subscription services such as Souksouk there really is something for everyone.
So what is Souksouk? Well Souksouk or the Little Green Beauty Box is a monthly subscription service but with a difference. Each box contains 4-5 carefully selected products that are "clean and green" - natural, organic, cruelty and chemical free beauty products. In a nutshell a beauty box subscription service with a conscious which doesn't just apply to the products held within the packaging is made from recycled materials too. While we are on the topic of packaging unlike other beauty box subscription plans Souksouk boxes don't come presented in the tradition shoe box style boxes, they arrive in a brown box with the products loose inside just as I have depicted above.
So what is inside the April (which is the first edition) Souksouk Little Green Beauty Box:
Essential Care Lemon and Tea Tree Facial Wash (30ml) -link
A mild and antiseptic face wash that contains lemon, tea tree oil and soothing Aloe Vera which is said to be balancing and great for oily/combination skin. The next time my skin breaks out I will be reaching for this and putting it to the test.
BalmBalm Mandarin Eau de Parfum (12ml) -link
Unlike other scents this only contains one note and that of course is Mandarin.
It is very true to life - a bright, zesty uplifting scent that is perfect for the upcoming summer.
I rather like the idea of one note scents and will be investigating the brand further in the hope of an apple and cherry scent or two.
Green People Fruit Scrub Exfoliator (25ml) - link
A light but gritty scrub that is for the face, I have used this in the past and found it a little too harsh for my skin type but brilliant on the body, feet and hands. I like to use it on problematic areas such as my elbows and knees.
Green People Vita Min Fix (25ml) - link
A light but highly hydrating moisturiser it almost feels gel like in consistency and delightful on the skin - I own this in full size and can vouch that it is a great moisturiser for oily/combination skin, the only negative is that it is strongly scented (evening primrose) which won't be to everyone's taste.
Lucy Annabella Organics Bath Milk (10ml) -link
A mix of Spike Lavender, Rosemary, Marjoram and Vetiver organic essential oils combine to provide a soothing soak for tired and achy muscles. I sadly don't own a bath to put this to the test but can state that it smells utterly divine and will put it to the test sooner or later.
Bomb Cosmetics Cooler Shaker Bath Creamer -link
As soon as you open the box this is the scent that greats you and it is utterly divine - a sweet candy like lime scent that matches the cute little bath creamer's appearance.
Unlike traditional bath bombs this has been created to soften and soothe the skin with a combination of essential oils and Shea butter, I can not wait to try it out!
As you can most likely tell I have rather enjoyed this months Souksouk Little Green Beauty Box not only is the concept utterly brilliant but it is jam packed with high quality products that will suit most tastes and age groups. I'm looking forward to seeing what May brings.

Oh, this sounds really promising! But whatever does the name "Souksouk" means? Haha! Sounds weird!

Very glad that there's another beauty box brand out there to put to the test - I've just subscribed! I really like the concept, and am glad that they're more about being organic and 'green'. It also seems that the contents of what's in the boxes aren't a mystery - I feel that, with other beauty box brands, they always have a slew of 5-8 different products that could possibly be in the box, usually leaving you somewhat hoping you'd gotten something else that they had to offer. Will be interesting to see how their box holds up in May!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post!

ReplyDeleteOoh this looks lovely - especially the bath cleanser, it even looks like it smells delicious :) might have to try this box out! x
ReplyDeleteThe box sounds promising for people who really are into such initiatives. I feel, I like the packaging of other boxes better (I don't know how I feel about products loose in the box, I like things compact). But the products sound interesting!
ReplyDeletePS: I think Souk is market (?) in Arabic (?) :/
