Yesterday I shared the press images for the new Barry M Confetti polishes and today as my samples arrived I thought it would only be fair to start rolling out some swatches and mini reviews. I must stress that I seldom wear test a nail polish because truthfully I get bored very easily and paint my nails almost daily. All in there will be five shades of the Barry M Confetti polishes when they launch this coming June, three of which I can share today.
Anyway first up we have Barry M Confetti Polish in Marshmallow which is light pink base in which tiny little shreds of white matte glitter suspended within. Glitter really is the wrong term for the little shards but I'm not sure how else to sum the polish up. The pink and white combo almost looks fluffy and dare I say it sugary sweet...the polish name (marshmallow) really couldn't be more fitting. To my eye the Barry M Confetti Polishes are great dupes for the Nails Inc Feather polishes and Marshmallow although not an outright dupe is a great alternative to Nails Inc York.
Next we have Dolly Mix which is again a clear base but this time around the minuscule bars that construct the effect are in shades of yellow, peach and blue. This is the one shade that doesn't photograph all that well but is rather pretty in reality. Again this reminds me of the Nails Inc Feather polishes only this shade is pretty decent doppelganger for Nails Inc Edinburgh.
I've saved my favourite until last - Barry M Nail Confetti in Liquorice! If you enjoyed the L'Oreal Nail Confetti polish then this is the one for you - it shares the same black and white colour scheme only the particles this time around are bar shaped rather than oval. I would say that Liquorice is the most versatile as it can be layered over pretty much any polish and due to the monochrome effect it is pretty chic. Much like before there is a similar Nails Inc Feather shade to be had and in Liquorice's case it is Nails Inc Feathers in Henley.
My only criticisms of the Barry M Confetti Polish is that they are fairly sheer and in most cases require around four coats before they become opaque that and they are fairly messy. If you are patient you will get great results but either layer them over a similar toned nail polish and/or have a great quick drying top coat to hand to speed up the process.
If like myself you enjoy a little accent nail or an easy peasy nail art effect then the Barry M Confetti polishes will be a welcome addition to your stash. Unlike the fluffy nail trend which including dipping your nail into flocking (which made me cringe at the thought) this effect is even and not as textured to feel. Basically what I am saying is come June when these polishes launch I do expect them to become one of that months must have items and why not they are pretty and as cheap as chips!
All five shades will hit Superdrug June 5th & Boots June 12th and retail for £3.99 each.

ReplyDeletelove the liquorice one! The fluffy nail trend makes me cringe as well. cant wait for these polishes. thanks for sharing! x
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous and such a cheaper alternative to the Nails Inc ones. The monochrome one is my favourite and definitely need to get my hands on it. I have heard it is a pain in the bum to remove though.

Love the look of these, especially Dolly Mix, reminds me of hundreds and thousands. Raspberrykiss xo
ReplyDeleteI am in love with Dolly Mix - like the above lady it reminds me of hundreds and thousands! I can't help but feel like I'd want to eat my nails everytime I looked at them though haha :) xx
ReplyDeletelove the liquorice one but it's a shame there so sheer!
ReplyDeleteI like the look of these but they do look like they would need a good number of coats to fully cover the nail. I would imagine they work better if you apply a similar coloured nail varnish first and then apply this over the top. I would like to give one a try but I'm a little concerned that somebody said they're even harder than glitter to remove!

Nice review, I have Nails Inc Edinburgh feathers, and it does look best as an accent nail - see my review of that here.
ReplyDeleteAstonishingly picky of me, but you mention that Dolly Mix is like Edinburgh, it's actually like Chester. :)
I'm not surprised they are sheer - I had the same problem with the Nails Inc one - I've applied 4 coats and even THAT wasn't enough... ;)
