Along with the new Revlon Lip Butter shades for Spring/Summer dubbed the Pacific Coast Collection which has been created with Gucci Westman, there is also two new super cute additions to the line up which again are limited edition so catch Revlon Baby Sticks while you can!
Oh and word has it that the Revlon Baby Sticks were used on the models at the Rag & Bone show at New York Fashion Week last month.
All in there is three shades of the Revlon Baby Sticks within the Pacific Coast Collection : Sunset, Pink Passion and Tahi, I was only able to source two but will keep an eye out for Tahi.
To me the packaging of the Baby Sticks reminds me of both the Tarte Blush Stains and the Eyeko Fat Balms - a small wind up chunky balm in a colour co-ordinated case to the shade held within.
In my opinion they are cute, easy to travel with and sturdy...what more could you possibly ask for?
Answering my question above, pigment that's what!
Out of the two shades above neither really do much for me in terms of colour pay off, so much so that lip swatches are useless and other than a light sheen to the lips there is no difference in shade what so ever.
Sunset in the tube looks to be a bright yellow tinged red that in theory is perfect for the summer months,
once swatched it is still a yellow tinged red that really lacks in the pigmentation stakes.
Same applies for Pink Passion only Pink Passion is of course a pink shade with a slight blue undertone.
Revlon Baby Sticks are intended to be dual use products - the lips and cheeks but truthfully I find the texture which is ever slightly greasy, thick and emollient like better suited to the lips than the face.
However even on the lips I can't say I thoroughly enjoyed wearing either of the shades as when applied they do feel really thick and drying on the lips.

The slippery sensation isn't really all that pleasing on the skin and doesn't really bode well with other base products, I'd say that if used on the face it would be best to team it with bare skin.
The problem with using these on the lips is that they lack pigmentation and are fairly difficult to apply due to the chunky styling.
I'm afraid that the wear is hard to judge as like I said colour pay off is so poor that I found it difficult to tell when the product was there and when it wasn't - perhaps someone with a lighter skin tone will benefit more than I did?
Sadly I have found these to be a let down which so seldom happens with Revlon products but if you do or have tried them I would love to hear your thoughts.

They look adorable and lovely colour but shame about the pigmentation!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the texture. I found other similar products to be too greasy and tacky to sit comfortably on either my lips or cheeks. It's a shame as I love the idea of them, but the formula's never quite up to scratch.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review!I was considering buying these but I hate putting anything that feels greasy on my face. x
ReplyDeleteI think i will steer clear of these, after reading this review. I did have a feeling this would be the case when i first heard about them :(
ReplyDeleteEven though I know I'll probably be disappointed, I just don't think I'll be able to resist that dinky packaging! x Becky
ReplyDeleteAhh I wish these were better! They look like such great multi use products at first glance but I think I'll give these a miss after your review - thank you! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review, now I know what not to buy. They seem like a great concept though...

What a shame since these look so cute!
ReplyDeleteThey look like the pigmentation would be brilliant, what a let down.

I too would've thought that they would be better for the lips than the face. I can't get on with a lot of cream/liquid blushes as I'd always assume they'd mess up my base. x
ReplyDeletePretty shades :) http://putbeautytowords.blogspot.ca/
ReplyDeleteI love the look of pink passion! But when using on the cheek I imagine it might move my base around :)

Think I'll skip these in favour of some more lip butters.

no swatches on hand, cheeks and lips?
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid not as they don't show up at all on me.
DeleteThese are so cute, but what a pity they were a let down, I normally love revlon lip products!

The colours! Not sure if I would try them though as they look quite greasy.

I was really excited about these but I just read on BBB that the pink one is the only one that lasts an average amount of time on the cheeks. Apparently the other two will be gone within the hour which is just not on. If it was MUA and they were £1 you could probably forgive it but £7 aint all that cheap! Think ill go for one of the Stila convertible colours instead :)
ReplyDeleteI heard about these a while back, not sure what to think of them but I'll check them out if and when I see them in my local Boots/Superdrug. :)
ReplyDeleteI reckon they'll be nice for spring and summer to chuck in your handbag. :)

A shame these products aren't that good, since the concept sounds great.
