I'm a great advocate of skin highlighters - liquid, powder or cream I own them all but like most beauty products I go through phases of preferring a certain formula over the others.
At the moment I'm a little nutty for liquid highlighters more specifically MeMeMe Beat the Blues Pearl Pink Highlighter.

Much like Benefit's liquid cheek and face products MeMeMe Beat the Blues comes presented within a glass bottle very much like a nail polish all the way down to the brush.
The bonus of having an inbuilt brush is that it saves faffing around to find something suitable to apply the product and in turn cuts down on mess which liquid products can sometimes go hand in hand with.
To use MeMeMe Beat the Blues I simply use the aforementioned brush with can be a little stiff and simply dot on a few times on each cheekbone (around three to four dots) and then use my ring finger to pat the liquid into my skin.
Don't you just love products that are simple to use?

The comparison to Benefit products doesn't end at the packaging the shade inside is a pretty decent dupe
for their best selling Highbeam liquid complexion enhancer aka highlighter.
Both shades are a light , cool toned shell pink that has a pearl finish and can look a little stark if not blended fully. Pushed i'd say the main difference is that MeMeMe Beat the Blues is slightly pinker in tone making a great option for those that found Highbeam a smidgen too light/stark.
If like myself you have enlarged pores I would say (i'm not an expert just going on past experiences) that liquid highlighters tend to be your best bet as they offer a softer focus finish and don't tend to settle into said pores or fine lines for that matter.
In terms of wear MeMeMe Beat the Blues when applied to my cheekbones tends to outlast the rest of my make-up and can easily last for up to 10 hours.

What I like most about liquid highlighters is that not only can you use them in the typical sense but you can also add a few drops to your foundation for an quick and easy way to add all over radiance to the face.
I also find blending a little down my shin bone when baring my legs (gulp, that time is near upon us all) gives the illusion of longer and slimmer legs.
