This weekend has been spent getting to grips with my new E.L.F goodies that I bought during their 50% sale that they do have fairly often...i'm hoping for another code soon so I can buy a few more of their HD Cream Blushes.
Speaking of blushes E.L.F Studio Blush in Candid Coral is certainly a shade to seek out for the Spring/Summer months.
I'm sure the comparison to between NARS and E.L.F packaging is something most will have picked up on.
Yes they are similar in style only the E.L.F version lacks the rubberized finish - it is completely plastic and as a result does feel and look a little cheaper. I guess budget brands have to skimp somewhere in order to cut costs and if that happens to be the packaging element so be it...better that than the product formulation.
One thing I must credit E.L.F for is the inclusion of a transparent window on their blushes, when you own a few the last thing you want to do is hunt for a certain shade.
E.L.F Studio Blush in Candid Coral is of course a member of the coral family and reminds me of MAC's Style blush. I would describe E.L.F Candid Coral as an orange based coral with only the tiniest hint of pink, it leans fairly warm and golden with a yellow undertone.
It is fairly light in tone so I wouldn't recommend it as a blush for deeper skin tones but deep complexions may enjoy Candid Coral as a highlighter?
Now I must stress that E.L.F blushes retail for at full price £3.75 so they are great candidates for the cheap and cheerful category so to compare them to the quality and standard of MAC and NARS blushes is a little unfair. What I will say is the the E.L.F formula is fairly well pigmented despite Candid Coral being one of their lighter shades but can become a little powdery/ashen in finish when applied in layers. E.L.F's Candid Coral is shimmer in finish which didn't present a problem for my enlarged pores rather than emphasis my enlarged pores it added a little radiance and would allow you to skip highlighting if you so wished.
Sadly the wear time wasn't too great at around 6 hours per application with primed skin but then again I do have oily skin so that can be to blame at times.

I have this, and it's so pretty! I agree about the longevity, but for the price I really can't complain.

This is such a pretty colour and the pigmentation is great, I've never really like E.L.F's blushes but this one looks worth a try!

I can't say I've tried anything from E.L.F but I'm pretty sure that's about to change. Can't believe how good value they are - thanks for the heads up! x Becky

the swatch look super pretty. I can`t believe that it does look like nars. To bad my skintone would not pick up orange coralish color that nice

This shade is so pretty! Kind of reminds me of NARS orgasm a bit on the swatches here~ I remembered purchasing a blush from ELF, but i found that it was way too powdery and very hard to work with. It's such a shame because the colour looks so nice, but i guess i can't complain since the price is very good for what it is to be honest and you can't really expect anything amazing~
ReplyDeleteThanks for your review though, it was good to read what you thought about it! :D
Have a lovely day~<3

I have all of the e.l.f. studio blushes and Candid Coral is one of my favorites. Especially for every day wear. It's the perfect day time color. My skin isn't dry, but is not by any means oily, so it gives me a good 8+ hours of wear.

My husband and I just moved to Italy, and it seems like the housing is a lot alike! Especially with the kitchens. We were lucky enough to find a villa that was as close to a typical "American" house as we could possibly find here in Italy.
I can't wait to read more about your time living abroad!

great for the price
ReplyDeleteI find Nars' packaging bulky, rough... a bit unnecessary to me. It gets dirty like crazy.
