Despite reading less than glowing reviews of Chanel nail polishes over the years I let my heart rule my head and bought one. I'm one of those people that seldom take a telling and have to see things to believe it, foolish I know when said nail polish set me back £18...ouch! A mistake I won't make again?
I'd love to say that's the case but truthfully I don't find Chanel's nail polish to be worthy of such disdain. Sure it's not the world's best formula, far from it and not for one second do I believe it warrants such hefty price tag but if brands like MAC can charge £10 for their nail polishes which are some of the worst I have ever encountered I feel Chanel can get away with the just shy of £20 price point...keyword here being just!
Anyway less of the self justification and on to a quick review of Chanel's Orange Fizz.
Chanel Orange Fizz Nail Colour is of course an orange based coral and genuinely not all that original a shade and one you can probably dupe within most high street brands nail polish lines.
Essentially I saw a coral nail shade, the Chanel logo and got blinded like so many of us do as all things considered Orange Fizz is not in the slightest a special shade, pretty yes, special nope!
Despite being a thicker formula than some other nail polishes Chanel Orange Fizz applies fairly sheer and dare I utter it...patchy. For full opaque you will need to apply three coats which to Chanel's credit do dry quickly and with a high sheen finish. I seldom comment on wear time or apply a top coat for that manner (lazy) but after reading aforementioned reviews I decided to play it safe and slick on a quick coat of Seche Vite. I needn't have bothered as by the end of the day my nails were chipped and begraggled for lack of a better word.
Sorry Chanel as much as I bow to your alter of all things chic in the future I will be avoiding your nail polishes...well unless I get Chanel blindness once again!

What a pretty shade! Perfect for Spring(...whenever that decides to arrive) haha.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried any of the Chanel Nail polishes, but they don't sound too great. I'll stick to Barry M I think... as this one looks very similar to their "Coral" colour :)

It's such a shame about the formula of the chanel polishes because they have some beautiful colours (like this one!) But I definitely wouldn't be happy to pay £18 for a polish that applies patchy and chips within a day! You'd have thought that for the amount of money they're charging for it they would have sorted that out! haha, at least it dries quickly I suppose, I hate having to wait ages!

I also purchased Orange fizz last year and have to say I wasn't overly impressed you'd expect much more with a price like that. I feel like Modelsown, opi, essie and Nails inc are much cheaper and much better quality!

This is such a lovely colour, it's just such a shame about the chipping. The bottle has such cute packaging too but £18 for a nail varnish is a little pricey isn't it - I think I will stick to Essie for now! :) x
ReplyDeleteYou'd think that for the price Chanel would actually bother to create a decent product!
