I seldom frequent the Chanel counter as I know I can't just browse and leave empty handed. Oh no I will always walk away with a little white shiny Chanel bag laden with cosmetic goodies and who can blame me the allure of Madam Coco's is just so appealing.
This time around I bought a few of the ever coveted Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadows but I will be back in the coming weeks to lay hands on the new Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder!
The beautiful Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow in Epatant comes presented within a small glass screw top jar which is of course is engraved withe classic linking "C" logo that we all know to be Coco Chanel.
The packaging is as chic as you'd expect from Chanel and despite being glass it doesn't seem to be the type of jar that will shatter should you drop it - I of course could be wrong.
Each Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow comes with its own small angled brush which does seem to be of good quality but isn't something I'd personally use with this formula, instead I think i'll keep mine for lip products.
Chanel Eptant is a bizarre shade to describe it's not quite grey or silver nor is it green or gold but rather a combination of such shades. I'm tempted to call it a burnished olive green but that doesn't really do the uniqueness of this shade much justice. What I can say is that it is cool in tone with a metallic finish. Basically if you like shades such as MAC Greensmoke then you should test this one out but it really is one of those colours you have to see in person to appreciate.
Just as the shade is difficult to pin point so is the formula, to the touch they have a certain foam like bounce but on the skin they feel light, cooling and gel like yet thick creamy and almost mousse like too.
In all my make-up testing days I have never experienced anything like it and again suggest you try out the product yourself to fully understand what I am harping on about.
The pigmentation of Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow in Epatant is faultless, one light application provides a beautiful and even wash of colour that quickly settles to a powder like finish. A word of warning is that the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadows do dry fairly quickly so you will have to be speedy should you want to blend out or combine with other eye shades. Other than that they are easy to apply and you can do so with your fingertips should you wish. Amazingly once the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadows set they do not budge and that is on oily skin such as myself, they don't crease, flake or buckle under excess sebum but stay in place until you decide to remove the shade. I do use a primer with Eptant and in turn benefit from around 10 hours of wear but it's one of the few formulas i'd imagine you could skip a primer if you felt inclined to do so.
I can not recommend the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow formula enough and won't be happy until I own a few more!

It looks absolutely gorgeous! I've yet to dip my toe in to the Chanel pool but I think when I do I'll start with these :) xx
ReplyDeleteI have the black "Mirifique" shade and it's show-stopping beautiful and sparkly. Agree with everything you mentioned about the formula and application, and I actually found the brush quite a handy shape albeit hopeless with such a tiny handle! Magic product!

Spent a solid 15sec just staring at the close-up of the shimmer..haha..
ReplyDeleteI want to see a look with this! :D
Wow! What a lovely color...thanks for sharing..
ReplyDeleteI have this too- I love the colour and the formula, its lovely but I have to disagree - on my moderately oily lids this creases after a few hours and it fades, even with primer! For that reason I wont buy another one, as lovely as it is I cant justify it when it does that to me!
