Benefit Fine One One - Review

Benefit Fine One One is the newest launch from the brand that is forever oozing wittiness and kitsch,
it has taken up until now for me to realise that Fine One One is a play on the emergency services stateside 9-1-1...i'm not always the sharpest tool in the box.

Housed inside a rather swish rose gold case that has a twist up mechanism to dispense the product when needed is Benefit's Fine One One a multipurpose lip and cheek balm that looks good enough to eat, the colour scheme reminds me of those push pop ice cream's...yum!
Speaking of colour schemes as you can see the product is split into three chunks of colour: a light pink iridescent shimmering highlight, a bright watermelon pink that is sheer and has a dewy finish and last but not least an almost matte orange based coral.

As it is a multi-use product you can use it in various ways: slick on with the highlighter side upwards for a sculpting look, dab on and blend in circular movements for an all over glow to the cheeks, using a brush you can also use the colours separately on the lips and cheeks.
When all three shades blend together I find them to form a shimmery bright pink shade with orange leanings that is fairly sheer and for that reason alone I do recommend it for light to medium skin tones but as it has a sheer cream formula it can be layered on fairly easy.

In terms of formula I don't find this the best choice for my oily skin as it has a little slide factor and tends to only wear for around four hours per application on my skin type. I would imagine it to fair a little better on those with normal to dry skin types and to be actually quite beneficial for drier skins as it is fairly hydrating.
Admittedly I don't really like it at all on my lips finding the colour to gather and settle into any cracks or dry areas of my lips but I would imagine when combined with a balm or gloss this should subside a little.

  1. I'm not convinced by this, I much prefer powder blushes x

  2. I had this applied to my cheeks at a local Benefit counter and really liked it! Although I agree with what you said about it sliding on oily skin, it didn't last aslong as I had hoped.

I can't imagine how this would look on lips but I do think it looks wonderful on cheeks. Can't wait to get enough money to purchase one of these!

  3. I'm glad there are positive reviews on this!! Temptalia gave this product a big fat F and I was so so sad! Maybe I'll have to try this now! I love that you didn't know it was a play on words :) I'm the same way!! Great review!!!

    1. I think every product has good/bad points and some will work better for others :) I wouldn't say it was an F maybe a C at a push! If you have oily skin it does slide and the colour is fairly sheer but it lives up to the brightening claims :) haha yes I am a little slow on the uptake!

  4. I swatched this today, i found it disappeared off my hand after a little rub. It was sort of see through and very slippy.x

    1. Yes quite slippy and sheer it slides quite badly on my oily skin but I will admit that the shade is lovely and very summery for the short while it lasts on the cheeks :) x

  8. It looks beautiful but I don't think I'll rush out and try it! Think I would prefer a powder blush to this :) Lovely review xx

  9. I love my Fine One One, it works really well with my skin, I've been using it constantly since I've got it. I love the coral shade the best its really pretty.
I could imagine it wouldn't be suited to those with oilier skin-types though.

    1. Agreed, I think it is a lovely shade but not all that great staying power wise on my skin but that's oily skin for you haha! x

  10. Thanks for the review- very honest! I do want to try it but think I'm swerving towards the not-trying it route as I think I'll stick to powder blushes. I love the packaging though! x x

  15. I didn't realise the play on words till I read this either :) For me I've found this works pretty well and I love the colour saying that I don't know if I'd buy it again as its quite pricey and I find myself always cleaning my foundation off of it!

  16. I had no idea it was a play on words either! I've never used Benefit face cosmetics before, but I'd be tempted to try this! x

  17. Only got the play on words reading this, I was like what a stupid name! Even with all the benefit hype around this doesn't interest me at all. Looks pretty but I just know it wont work for me. Even most benefits box powder blushers are barely visible on my medium dark skintone. About time they brought one out that packs a punch, I can only wear coralista. X

  18. I just bought this I really like it because I have dry cheeks. I find it hydrating and the color is subtle and sheer.

  19. Thanks for the post - I was thinking of buying this, but I also have quite oily skin, so I'll probably give this a miss. XO

  21. I loved the idea of this if it were a bronzer/blush/highlighter but agree, don't think it would agree with the oilyness on my skin! huge fan of the rose gold packaging though! x
