When I first started blogging I used to showcase high street dupes fairly frequently but as the months
have passed it has fell by the wayside but I think it is a feature that needs to be resurrected
and what better place to start than a budget dupe for a rather naughtily titled NARS blush?
A few months ago Kelly Brook and New Look teamed up to create a smallish make-up collection
which is still available in store, on the whole I found the collection a little bland but of you look
closely there are some lovely products: the blush I am about to show you and there is also a wonderful
black holographic glitter nail polish, sadly New Look do not give their cosmetic items any shade
names so blogging about them is not the easiest task!
One thing I do want to commend Kelly Brook and New Look for is the cute, retro packaging,
it is well thought out and although the blush does come with a poor quality brush (very scratchy)
the compact does feature a great sized and quality mirror...you win some, you loose some.
The shade I have is a light, yellowed pink (how cute is the bow imprint in the center?) that has a shimmer finish and as the title of this post suggests is close is shade to NARS Deep Throat.
So what are the main differences between the two products prize aside?
Well despite appearing identical in the pan the Kelly Broke Blush has a stronger pink undertone,
is more matte in finish and is surprisingly the most pigmented out of the two.
In swatch form they do look a little different but once blended out on the face
I find them to give a similar effect but sadly they look closer in shade in pan form than they do applied.

Not bad for a blush that costs less than £3!
The Kelly Brook Blush* isn't available online at the moment but can be found in most New Look stores.
I didnt no that new look had a little makeup range it sounds great and the blush looks really pretty!:)

A little too warm for my skin tone but nevertheless a nice shade. :)

PrettyGloss - makeup, beauty & a lil gibberish
In my local New Look stores I haven't seen any of the Kelly Brook range which is a shame as this looks like such a lovely colour!x
ReplyDeleteI am tempted to buy it and yet I thought that range was a total loss...

it actually looks nice! would usually just ignore the makeup pretty much in new look. always thought it looked really cheap.

i love Kelly brook and i have liked her fashion line that she had in New Look a while back. For me, although the make-up seems to be a very close dupe for NARS orgasm, i don't exactly trust cosmetics from fashion stores much because my skin can be quite sensitive to some chemicals. I agree that the colours look almost identical in the pan and i was surprised by the difference in the swatches! Haha, i've read too many times about products with rubbish scratchy brushes so i wasn't surprised in this case! :D Thanks for the review XxXx
ReplyDeleteThis looks lovely, though I must say I've been slightly skeptical about this range! xo

I actually much prefer the New Look one but then i do much prefer pink blushers! The packaging is really cute too.

I'm sorry but this is really not a dupe at all :/
ReplyDeleteI love pinky-pink blushers, so may try this. I'm really surprised to read that is ore pigmented than the Nars blush!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the dupe, I love these posts! xxx
