well you couldn't really have a Carine Roitfeld collection and not have a nod to her signature nude lip
and despite many warning me against the sheerness and lack of colour from Tropical Mist
I threw caution to the wind (is there any other way to live?) and popped one in my virtual shopping basket.
Much like the face palettes the lipstick comes presented within a very sleek black matte case
and again features Carine's signature/initials in a glossy print.
I really, really, really (can you feel the love?) like the matte casing and hope MAC roll out
some other lip shades in similar packaging...please?
Anyway on to the shade Tropical Mist is a light orange tinged nude shade much like the cremeblend blush
in the palette I show cased yesterday but that is really where the comparison ends
as sadly once swatched and applied you can see it is the sheerest on nudes I ever encountered
and pretty much translates to clear on both my lips and arm,
I haven't included swatches as there isn't anything to see really!

I guess it could have it's uses but as you get the same effect from any lip balm
I say skip and save your pennies for one of MAC's permanent lipsticks
(they are £1.50 cheaper than this shade too)...ah well you live and you learn eh?

I remember seeing this on Temptalia, and going "is she craaaay?" when she graded the pigmentation of this lipstick 7/10.. uh, okay.
ReplyDeleteThe lipstick has a LUSTRE finish, which is why it is on the sheerer side. If you want more pigmentation you should look out for Amplified lipsticks.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I've recently just started embracing nude lipsticks..I guess I'll be skipping this one..xx

ReplyDeleteI have found it works as a really nice 'top coat' to other nude lipsticks :) It makes it look a little less 'foundation lips' with the sheen it gives
