Along with the Marilyn Monroe collection MAC launched a mini Carine Roitfeld collection
which allows us to get Carine's signature smoky eyes and nude lips at home with ease.
Within the collection there is two full face kits, a nude lipsticks and lots of other grooming products.
I bought the lighter of the two kits - Desert Camouflage which you can read all about below!
"Edgy and provocative, image-maker, editor and stylist, Carine Roitfeld edits her signature look into a collection of chic colours and tools inspired by her aesthetic, featuring limited-edition shades and two new seductive Eye and Cheek compacts."
The packaging of the Carine Roitfeld collection is mainly matte and in my opinion really sleek and classic.
The full face kits come in well sized matte black cubes that feature Carine Roitfeld's initials/signature
in a glossy finish on the front.
The kit also features a rather decent mirror which comes in more than handy when on the go.
Each full face kit within the Carine Roitfeld collection contains 4 eyeshadows and a cremeblend blush.
The Desert Camouflage kit contains eyeshadows in the following shades: Sahara Dust (light creamy ivory shimmer finish), Cactus Thorn (bright golden bronze shimmer finish), Desert (cool toned taupe shimmer finish), Carbon (matte true black).
Truthfully the palette provides a good selection of shades to create a smoky eye look but as the vast majority
are shimmer based it may not be to everyone's taste.
In terms of wear these are just typical MAC eyeshadows and when primed they last around 8 hours
on my oily eye lids.
The other product within the kit is a Cremeblend blush in the shade Sand Storm
which is a light bright tan shade that does look far more intense in the pan that it does applied.
Truthfully the shade is quite warm in tone and not one I would recommend to cool or light skin tones
as it could look a little muddy but then again you can sheer it out so I guess preference is key.
In terms of wear I get around 6 hours from this shade but as it is fairly sheer you don't notice colour
fade quite so much and it does make a great base for layer on similar coloured powder products.

Yes for sure, I'm positive in your huge stash you will have most shades but by a different name ;)
DeleteCactus Thorn is right up my street! The blush looks lovely but I'm quite pale so probably wouldnt look too great on me.

It's a funny shade, the colour is better suited to mid/deep tones yet the pigmentation lets it down. It looks good with a bronzer on top :)
DeleteThe packaging is great! Looks really strudy and strong.
ReplyDeleteColours are lovely too.
I agree, in an odd way I think it looks clean?
DeleteI really love the look of this.
ReplyDeletePossibly as a Christmas present too!
Love, Elise xx

I agree such lovely packaging :)
DeleteThis looks great!! xx
ReplyDeleteI NEED THIS!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to try out this collection. After looking through it though, they've pretty much made it just for Carine with only one foundation in her colour! Have you tried out the lipstick? It looks nice, but I haven't seen a decent swatch yet.
ReplyDeleteI need to go have a look at this palette on my lunch break. Knowing me I will probably walk out with this. Do you think this palette is better than the naked palette Illamasqua recently brought out?
ReplyDeleteIll probably drop you a tweet now asking this same question
SWEET JESUS. I love this palette. Looks like a gtotal dream. x
ReplyDeletedidnt expect it to be a cream blush, but I like that it is, damn shame theyre shimmery eyeshadows tho, boo!
