Recently I have made it my personal mission (look at me speaking like i'm saving the world ha)
to try more indie brands and expand my make-up horizons a little
so when I was contacted by the lovely Sally who owns a small make-up line called Beautylush
I jumped at the chance to try a few products.
Beautylush Co offer two different eyeshadow formulas pressed and loose pigments
as much as I love the shades available in pigment form it is just more practical for me (and my furniture)
to go with the pressed formula when offered the option.
The cool thing about the Beautylush packaging is that it is branded with the Beautylush logo
which is pretty rare amongst the smaller indie brands...the devil is in the detail after all.
In all honesty the packaging reminds me a little of the new Urban Decay pans for the custom palettes,
the packaging is sturdy well made and rather pretty.
Summer Sky has to be the turquoise green shade I have been dreaming of all my life!
It is a turquoise type of shade that leans more to the green end of the spectrum rather than it does blue,
don't get me wrong it does have a hint of blue but the green is by far the most prominent of the two shades.
I own nothing like this at all, it is so beautiful and complex and I do feel everyone should own it.
Going by online swatches I liken Summer Sky most to a few limited edition Mac shades such as Jealousy Wakes and Surf USA which are now hard to come by.
Summer Sky has a high sheen metallic finish but no glitter present, it can be worn as an eyeshaow
or used as an eyeliner for a little pop of colour.
You can also use it wet to improve the intensiveness of the shade.
All of the Beautylush Co eyeshadows are hand pressed - something about this fact makes me very happy
it just seems less soulless than a machine doesn't it?
Summer Sky as mentioned is a metallic shade and is butter soft to the touch with next to no fall out,
it applied and blended with ease complete with a high level of colour pay off.
When it came to wear time I found this shade to last for around 6 hours without a primer
before it creased on my oily lids but with a primer it lasted closer to the 8 hour mark.
