With Essie Mint Candy Apple being such an insatnt hit all over the beauty community
I thought now would be a good time to trawl the beauty aisles and find a reasonable priced dupe
for all of those that would rather save the penny's than splurge!
Admittedly Mint Candy Apple was fairly hard to dupe as although mint green is nothing new to the polish world Mint Candy Apple is one of the paler mint green polishes I have encountered
resulting in it being neigh impossible to dupe on a budget
and one of the most stressful dupe challenges I have set haha!
and one of the most stressful dupe challenges I have set haha!
The closest I have found thus far is NYC Expert Last Nail Polish in Mint Macaroon
which is a deeper in tone than Mint Candy Apple but not as much as the photos would allow you to believe,
in reality yes it is deeper but not quite as deep as my camera has decided to show it as.
So can you dupe Essie Mint Candy Apple with ease...in a word no but I still
believe this to be a pretty good find as NYC is one of the better distributed brands out there
so I know most of you will be able to get your hands on this (with any luck) including international readers.
In the UK this is easily available in Boots and Superdrug stores for £1.49...complete snip!
Your best bet would be to purchase this shade and mix it with a little white nail polish
and I would say you'd have as close a dupe as possible without splashing out on the real deal.
Have you found a better dupe?
There is one from the Rimmel Pro collection which is quite close if that helps?
ReplyDeleteI love Mint Candy Apple though :)

The mint green from Barry m is a better dupe.
ReplyDeletebarry m mint green is definitely the best dupe i've found!
ReplyDeleteI have this and haven't used it yet!
ReplyDeleteIt's a pretty colour :-) I think it's a lot more lighter than your photos show it hehe I hate it when my camera does that..has a mind of it's own :-P
I found that Barry M 'Mint Green' is too green rather than mint. I think Collection 2000 'Button Moon' is a closer dupe. I own 'Mint Candy Apple' and 'Button Moon' and they're both very similar.

I am in love with Mint Candy Apple. I actually wrote a post about it today :) I think that Barry M. Blue Moon is quite close to Mint Candy Apple.
ReplyDeleteI also bought Barry M. Mint green, but it is a totally different shade and not a close match at all.
I just gave the Look beauty range a go, and they have a beautiful mint green called vintage, think its a pretty good dupe :) x
ReplyDeletei have two mint greens, an e.l.f one in mint cream and a revlon one in minted they might be good dupes, the revlon one is very light xx
ReplyDeletei have the mint green barry m on my nails and its great dupe!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a Rimmel one that is very similar from what I've seen, I don't own mint candy apple to compare but it does seem very similar.
ReplyDeleteI also have a Barry M one that is kind of similar, I think that one is called Blue Moon? But it's a lot lighter and more blue in colour than greeny. xx
button moon is a great dupe!
ReplyDeleteI've just bought this NYC polish to see what the mint shade is like - excited to try it! xx
ReplyDeleteModels own has a pretty good one that looks very similar for £4.99
ReplyDeleteGOSH Miss Minty... not much cheaper at £5 but still saving a little! Also there's a Rimmel pro one which is similar I believe! xxx
ReplyDeletei think although they come from the same color family, they cant be so much of a dupe bec the shades and tone are very diff. BUT since NYC is super cheaper than Essie, why not! -LovingSunshine
ReplyDeleteI use the ANNY "Green Meets Mint" and it's a great dupe :) but I prefer the Essie Polishs..it lasts longer:)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I can't buy NYC in Germany:(
Ooo that is a close dupe, love the colour. Thanks x

I have an Essie nail varnish that actually looks really close, I know there not available in the UK but it might be worth looking online :) It's in the colour You Belong To Me :)

Tesco's own nail varnish range 'All about nails' have an excellent dupe for 99p! Similarly (but a tad dearer at £2.99) Barry M's Mint Green isn't TOO far away from Essie's :-) This NYC one is a gorgeous colour though! xxx
ReplyDeleteI really like the look of Essie's mint candy apple, I have a few Essie polishes but I may have to add this to my collection.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking at 17's mint choc chip online and it seems quite similar, but I've not seen it in person. xx

ReplyDeleteI have the barry m mint green but I don't find it to be that similar. The best dupe I've found is the ELF mint green which is just £1.50 and its lovely! xo
ReplyDeletemaybe this? I remembered your post when I saw this colour

I have 17 Lasting Fix nail polish in 'Mint Choc Chip' on my nails right now and looking at them against my monitor, the colour looks VERY similar to Essie 'Mint Candy Apple'. I may have to compare them when I next go to Boots.
