I know that "crackle" nail polishes have been done to death
and like most I was never a huge fan of the movement, it's too messy for my liking.
I guess the general idea is lazy nail art?
So how do we feel about the newest additions - glitter versions?
MUA have launched a line of glitter crackle type top coats - six shades in total.
That do crackle but for some reason the glitter gives the crackle a much more subtle effect.
Glitter subtle? I know what a complete oxymoron but the results speak for themselves.
The quake polish dries quick and to a matte like finish,
I found it to be great for covering up minor tip wear of a few day old polish
but I recommend a coat of topcoat or the quake polish will be all but gone after a few hours of wear.
I was a little worried about the Gold shade being festive but it works shockingly well over pink polish
and it looks beautiful layered over mint green or any other pastel shade for that matter!
Who said glitter is only for Christmas?
So what do you you think about glitter crackle top coats?
Not really a fan of that - it doesn't seem to show up much at all on the coral and looks a little bit just like the top of the nail is dirty?! Hmm not sure!
ReplyDeleteLike you I am not a massive fan of any crackle top coats- a few friends have done gold with black crackle and it looks good on them but I prefer plain greys/beiges or for an effect prefer a matte top coat.
looks pretty - but crackle polishes seem a bit too good to be true- smudging etc is awful with them!xx

I am a big fan of black crackle top polish layered thinly over a decent metallic gold or silver, I feel it gives a really nice distressed antiquey metal look to the nail. The gold crackle top doesn't seem to show up much on the coral above but I reckon I would really like it over something a bit darker.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful combo for sure but I expected a much more opaque coating of glitter.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite subtle when paired with the coral. I tend to only use crackle polishes to cover tip wear when I'm trying to get an extra couple of days out of my mani!
