Another continuation with my infatuation of the Maybelline Moisture Extreme formula.
I can't get enough of these lipsticks but sadly it looks like they are being phased out!
Why is it always the good formulas or shades that brands seem to be in a hurry to get rid of?
Answers on a post card to the usual address please.
Unlike the previous Moisture Extreme lipsticks this shade is encased in red plastic tube.
I have no idea which of the two cases is the newer of the two or what is really going on
as in my local Superdrug they have both the golden cases and the red ones.
Perhaps it depends on which shade you purchase?
Anyway much like the golden case it is nothing to behold visually
but more than does the job in terms of protecting the contents.
Peach Mocha is a red tinged brown, sadly not a hint of peach in sight.
It looks much deeper in bullet form than it applies.
As mentioned it does have a shot of brown which translates slightly yellow in tone
resulting in the over all shade being neutral.
Once applied it appears sheerer and transforms to a slightly brown strawberry red tone.
It is a nice spin on a red shade, it's muted so those who fear bold red lips may favour this shade?
It gives the effect of my lips but better with a high gloss finish.
Maybelline Extreme Moisture Lipsticks glide on like nothing else I own,
well maybe a lip butter or two
but none of my lipsticks glide on as smoothly and as softly as this does.
Not only is the moisture levels out of this world but the pigmentation makes the grade too.
I found this lipstick to deliver great colour pay off in one clean swipe
and did not find it to bleed, feather or apply patchy.
Once applied it has a lovely glossy finish that means you can skip the gloss if you so wish.
The only kicker so to speak with this lipstick is that it doesn't last as long as I'd hoped for.
On average I get around two hours of wear from each application,
which isn't a problem for a habitual re-applier but worth noting if you require a long lasting formula.
Product Summary
Round Up - A beautiful glossy red brown based nude.
Best For - In my experience mid-dark skin tones but I bet fairer ladies could rock it too!
Pigmentation - (9/10) not bad for a lipstick that feels like a high quality lip balm on the lips.
Availability - All Maybelline stockists for £5.99 but Boots have a buy one get one half off deal
(out of stock online), save penny's and pick this up on eBay for £1.61 inclusive of p&p - link
gorgeous colour! i have a few of the newer maybelline lipsticks and they're quite hard to put on, they dont glide as well as this one sounds like it does! such a shame cos this ones like £2 cheaper too!

ReplyDeletethank you so much :) yes glossy shades are my favourite too :) I got your email and will reply in the morning :)
DeleteI bought Pinky Beige at the weekend after reading your review and I LOVE it - don't believe they are phasing them out though as you say! I was confused by the red casing too as the one you reviewed was orange, didn't know if I'd bought the right thing!
ReplyDeleteI really hope they aren't but many places have stopped stocking them and they are popping up on eBay for crazy cheap prices which made me think that but hopefully not :) so glad you liked pinky beige :)
DeleteI really want to try this range of lipsticks now, great reviews.
