This years Viva Glam honours went to Nicki Minaj and Ricki Martin,
I am a little disappointed that Ricki was only given a clear lip conditioner
and not a sizzling hot shade, I was hoping for a bright red or something?
I assumed that much like when Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper combined
and each released a shade that Nicki and Ricki would follow suit!
The Ricki element seems like an after thought as when the sneak preview/buy codes launched
it was only for the Nicki shade and not the lip conditioner.
Oh well you can't win them all...
Much like a typical MAC lipstick this comes packaged in a black bullet like case
but unlike the usual shades this has red accents and Nicki Minaj's signature scrolled on the tube.
Every penny minus VAT goes to the MAC AIDS Fund so you can purchase safe in the knowledge
you are supporting a good and worthwhile cause.
MAC Viva Glam Nicki is listed as a bright yellow pink and I agree with this.
Viva Glam Nicki is a bright almost neon pink and thanks to the yellow undertone
it gives it a sort of coral feel, perfect for the spring and summer.
Being a Satin formula it is slightly drying but the colour is opaque in one clean swipe.
If you find the shade a little too bright I suggest blotting it on to dull it down a little,
you can also add a little slick of gloss to give the shade a new lease of life
and add a little moisturisation to the lips.
I find Satin formulas to last around 3 hours per application but I do find them drying,
thus highlighting any flakes/dry patches so be sure to use a lip balm beforehand.

I think they have to keep the celeb shades L.E so the line isn't overwhelming?

DeleteI love this shade! It's really pretty, but there might be two versions out since some describe their color as watermelon/coral and others as a bubblegum pink. I think the reason they did Ricky's as a lip conditioner was in case men wanted to buy something to support him, they had a clear balm to use and not a brightly colored lippie.

It's really gorgeous but i actually prefer the colour in the bullet more than when it's applied! Would love if it was brighter, i suppose you could always build it up though :) Ricky Martin's shade really disappointed me too! You'd expect him to have a red after his song lyrics ''her lips are devil red'' haha MAC dropped the ball on that one!!
