I am always on the look out for eyeshadow bases, you see I have been 'blessed' with oily skin
and this results in make-up doing the ol' slip n slide if not set properly. I'm very much a neutral girl so Yogurt ( I though it was spelled Yoghurt?) was the obvious choice.
The packaging is nothing to behold just very plain and simple but the pencil is weighted so it is a little easier to apply. You can also pop the bottom of these jumbo pencils off and using heat depot them into a jar to minimise waste from sharpening. A simple search on YouTube should yield the answers on how to do this.
Yogurt is a light metallic champagne based nude and cool in tone. In some lights it does reflect slightly pink and is glitter particle free. The pencil itself is butter like soft and melts on to the skin the moment it comes into contact. You won't experience any nasty pulling or tugging of the delicate skin area. It is easy to blend and does not settle into the creases of the eyelid like some formulas,
once set these dry to a powder like finish and do not budge if primed. Worn alone with a primer underneath I experienced no creasing throughout the day - 8 hours. The product is also scent free and did not irritate my sensitive eyes.
I prefer to use cream products as bases to lay powder products on top off, that way it intensify's the powder shade and prolongs the wear of the powder product, this is particularly helpful is like I you have oily skin. However you can use these as an eyeshadow, eyeliner and depending on the shade as a highlighter. NYX is a fairly reasonable priced brand so if you are looking for eyeshadow bases
you could do a lot worse than these pencils, not to mention they come in a wide array of shades.
Product Summary
Round Up - A shimmery metallic nude multi-tasking eye pencil.
Best For - A multitude of things but from my personal experience they work best as eyeshadow bases.
Pigmentation - (7/10) Reasonable particularly for a cream product.
Availability - NYX is not the easiest brand to source in the U.K but you can pick these up from Love Make- Up from selected BHS stores prices of which I do not know. £4.50/5g
Nice tone, these jumbos are amazing as a base! thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely shade. I've always wanted to try out NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils. Next time I'm in town I might have to pop into BHS to see if they have any xx
ReplyDeleteI so want to get one of these! Oh and in English it's yoghurt, but in American English they don't have an h :)
ReplyDeleteI love NYX products and the colour of this on looks great! Didn't know BHS sold this brand although I never found anything on they're website... What stores have you seen it in?
ReplyDeleteHave you tried they're mascaras? I've always wanted to try them.
Best wishes

I own this one but never really wear it. I use Milk (which I depotted by melting out the pencil) every day, but yogurt, nope.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any suggestions for layering which e/s on top of yogurt pls? TIA!
I had no idea BHS might stock this. I'll have a look next time, thanks. :) Also, do you think layering two different cream based eye products would be a bad idea? x
ReplyDeleteI absoulutely love your reviews! They are always so perfectly detailed. I never knew that BHS stocked this!

@silvia - I couldn't agree more :) x
ReplyDelete@sarah - I hope you find some :) x
@anna - ah thank you :) everyday truly is a school day :) x
@pinkpixieclaire - Ah I think it is an instore only sorta thing, your best bet is to try the larger stores first :) No I haven't they just don't really appeal to me but perhaps temptalia has? x
@Sandra - i'm the opposite I have milk and never use it haha, it looks a little stark on my skin in all honesty. I like to use it for Mac Patina, Satin Taupe and Woodwinked but as it blends down to almost nothing you can get away with most nude shades :) x
@sarirah - Yep some sell the line :) most likely the larger stores. I think it can work but it's best to let the first cream dry before applying another on top, play around and see what happens :) x
@sophie - aww thank you so much :) yep some stores have a small collection :) x
Unfortunately I found that even with a primer the NYX pencils crease on me, and I have dry skin! :(
ReplyDeleteAny tips?
I have this and I love the colour so much, but I found these creased like mad on me, even with a primer. If only I had the same results as you! x

@vintage make-up - Ah that really sucks! Have you tried buffing it into the skin with a fluffy brush?x
ReplyDelete@elissa - That really sucks like I said try buffing it in a little :) or applying a powder shade on top..good luck :) x
Oh my god! I didn't know you could depot these! The sharpening is probably the reason I dislike using these so much but aaah!!! You've created in me a monster!
ReplyDelete@eden - sorry as always haha! I might do a quick tutorial on how to depot one if my video camera ever arrives! x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your suggestions on paring yogurt! Gonne give it a try this week :)
ReplyDelete@sandra - not a problem at all :) let me know how you get on! :) x
ReplyDeleteI love my NYX Jumbo pencils :) French fries is my go-to favorite. Strangely enough (as it seems to be everyone else's absolute favorite) Milk doesn't really do it for me either, it is just too stark on my skin too. I plan on depotting my jumbo's as well, as soon as I finally run into some pots to depot them in.
ReplyDelete@dalaluz _ I have milk to post today but not my fav at all! Oh french fries I may have to pick up :) x
ReplyDeleteI recently bought this shade, it's very pretty x
ReplyDelete@summer - it is isn't it :) x
