MAC Flamingo Lipstick was a sleeper hit, not much was every really said in the blogging or twitter realms about it yet many of us knew that the moment the Iris Apfel collection went live on MAC that creamy coral shade would be ours!
MAC describe Flamingo as a bright milky coral shade and for once they are spot on. Flamingo is a beautiful bright almost coral shade, the perfect blend of bright pink and orange if pushed I would say it is on the pink side of coral opposed to orange. Like most coral shades this is warm in tone but you could cool it down with a pale cool lipgloss.
There is not much I can say about the MAC lipstick packaging that hasn't already been said,
its sleek, black, looks like a bullet and has sophisticated silver accents. It's instantly recognisable and protects the lipstick well. As with all Mac lipsticks this has the typical vanilla scent (I love the scent..mmm)but even if you dislike scented products you can still wear MAC lipsticks as when on the lips the scent is completely undetectable.
Flamingo is a Lustre formula which means it is slightly sheer, perhaps more so than some would imagine and it also has a glossy finish. I deem Lustre finishes as the middle ground between lipstick and gloss. They aren't as pigmented as a full on pigmented lipstick nor as weakly pigmented as a typical lip gloss.
I'll be completely honest Flamingo is not as pigmented as I had hoped for, if you were hoping for a full on bold coral lipstick then you may be disappointed slightly. However it does deliver a lovely coral pink hint to the lips, is very moisturising and does last far longer than a typical gloss, I get around 4 hours of wear from a typical lustre finish. It is a little odd that on my lips it appears more milky than it does on my skin swatch but the swatches I have provided are true to life! What I like about Flamingo is that it delivers a bright coral lip that is slightly muted thus making it easy to wear, you don't have to tone it down and it is perfect for everyday wear. If you like Mac Ever Hip and shades of that vein then this shade is for you!
I love the shade so much that I am praying I can get a backup!

ReplyDeletei ordered this lippy as soon as it went online, i loved mac cut a caper lipstick and thought i would be similar, it is just pinker, i wish id ordered two as its now sold out and i cant get one i store i guess as an above commenter says its on line only product, that sucks lol.x
