With the Mac Naturally collection immanent I dug out my much neglected Brunette MSF.
Yes it was released many moons ago and if you follow the 18 month rule it should now be in the bin
but as it hasn't changed in scent or texture and has only ever been used on my face by me
with my clean brushes etc I'm happy to still use it.
But I am super strict with mascaras and eye liners!
Are you excited about the Naturally collection?
I am, it is the first collection in a while that has me nervously awaiting it's arrival,
all those lovely nude and sun kissed shades are right up my alley
and I can't wait to get my mitts on the two MSF's which have lead me to digging this one out!
Mac Brunette was released in 2009 as part of the Brunette, Blonde, Red Head collection.
Being a few years younger than today I thought I could only use the brunette one as I was a brunette,
partly my fault for being naive and partly the sales assistant's fault for spinning me lies.
In hindsight I would have bought the blonde variation.
Anyway it sat in it's box until last year when I decided to bust it out of it's packaging and give it a whirl!
Mac Brunette is consisted of four bronze pink shades that vary in tone - light to dark.
MSF's (mineral skin finish) are typically setting powders and highlighting powders
but given this one's shade it is better suited to a blush, a very shimmery blush at that
with a metallic finish but no traces of glitter just tiny shimmer particles.
The pigmentation of this MSF is astounding!
One little light swipe is all I used in my swatches so when it comes to application
I do have to approach with a light hand to avoid looking clown like.
The shades individually are on the small side so to use them individually is out of the question for me.
Although you could use them as eyeshadow's or find a tiny blush brush I guess?
One swirled together the shades form a mid pink toned bronze
that once applied on the apples of the cheeks give a healthy sun kissed look.
On tanned skin this would look amazing but I feel guilty singing it's praises as it was a L.E,
never mind though the Naturally collection sees the Blonde and Red Head shades being re-promoted!
Do you intend to pick up anything for the Naturally Collection?
Very pretty! And I would not have tossed it out either, I am using powder products that are even older without any problems! But like you said: only been used by me, with clean brushes, and no change of color/scent/structure. And old LE or not: true beauty still deserves its praises ;)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more :) if it has only been used by you why not! I am really strict with eye products though...heard too many scary stories not to be.

DeleteI want to pick up the blonde MSF, I missed out the first time round. I wouldn't of thrown it out if it is still good to use, it would be a waste of money. x
ReplyDeleteI agree unless it smells or feels different keep on using unless it is an eye product :)
DeleteThis looks gorgeous. I get a big scared with pigmented blushes, but this looks lovely. I quite like the look of the lipsticks released in this collection, but I'm saving it for some Iris Apfel lipsticks - particularly Party Parrot and Flamingo! x
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I love your header! x
DeleteAh great choices :) I have flamingo and it is a beaut! I wish I bought Party Parrot when I had the chance!
DeleteAww thank you :)
Your photos are always so amazing! This look gorgeous x
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to pick some things up from this collection but it's sold out everywhere! :3 I'm glad that you've learned. Never such a thing as too much makeup! :D Thanks for the swatches!
