This February sees the launch of Clarins Spring collection - Colour Breeze.
"This season colour washes over a flawless complexion as the first signs of Spring
are encapsulated in radiant tones of delicate to enhance and illuminate,
for perfect bright and breezy beauty."
Nothing quite captures such blurb as Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in 08 Blue Sky.
I always admire the packaging of Clarins products, they are beautifully presented particularly the powder
formula items in light gold metal casings that is simple, elegant, classic and yet beautiful.
They feel luxurious due to the weight and high polish finish of the casing,
each item is delicately embossed with a "C" and come with a large great quality mirror inside the compact.
as well as featuring the appropriate applicators dependant on the product housed inside.
Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in 08 Blue Sky is of course a quartet of blue and co-ordinating shades.
08 Blue Sky features three blue shade and only white shade.
The great thing is that the palette features two shades that are best suited to being washes of colour,
one shade that will work wonderfully in the crease or used to define the eye and one shade to highlight.
You can use the four shades wet or dry, depending on the colour intensiveness you require.
So housed inside this glossy gold case is a complete spring eye look all you really need to add
is mascara and perhaps a slick of liner if you so wish.
A quick colour description run down (top row to bottom row, left to right)-
Shade 1 - a cool toned bright aqua blue with tiny silver flecks of glitter.
Shade 2 - a true bright white with an abundance of silver glitter.
Shade 3 - a deep navy blue with multi tonal glitter flecks.
Shade 4 - a teal blue that is frost in finish but features no glitter.
Dry Swatches |
Wet Swatches |
The formula of these eyeshadow's is firm but delivers a high colour pay off
with the exception of the white shade, which I found to be a little temperamental and worked best wet.
The blue shades were a breeze to use, they swatch and apply well - both wet and dry,
easy to blend and had next to no fall out if any!
The white shade required effort to achieve colour pay off and did appear to be a little chalky when dry.
However when wet it applied wet the pay off was much better and it lost the chalky quality.
The shade choices are mainly cool in tone as is most blue eyeshadow's
but due to the high pigment that features in these shades even the deepest of skins can apply these shades
without the worry of the blue shades turning ashy, the white as mentioned is hit and miss.
Without a primer these shadows wore around six hours before I encountered creasing
but this is mainly my problem (oily skin) and not the actual product.
With a primer these lasted eight hours with ease.
Lovers of blue eyeshadow should really enjoy this colour palette!
This palette is limited edition.
