Barry M Pretty Pink (shade 155) is a mid toned pink hue .
It is very much your typical candy pink lipstick
and a shade you will have seen countless times before (Think Mac St Germain etc).
It leans slightly cool and is lightly scented - vanilla.
On some skin tones - medium/dark this can appear a little stark
so I do suggest you swatch before purchasing.
The Barry M lipstick formula can be a little hit and miss,
some shades can be rather drying and a layer of lip balm before application is a must
yet others have a slightly glossy finish and feel and are not quite as drying.
The annoying thing is Barry M lipsticks don't come labelled as to what formula they are,
some are definitely more matte or glossy than others and the only way of knowing
is to swatch or blind buy in the hope that you have a shade with a decent formulation.
Shade 155 is fairly well pigmented it applies opaque in one swipe had it been any other shade
It applies evenly and does not pull or tug at the lips.
This is one of the shades that has a semi glossy finish and isn't as drying as the matte shades.
It is quite comfortable on the lips and I did not feel the need for a balm before application.
However in all honesty I am a little disappointed in terms of shade originality
I mean did the market really need another sickly mid toned candy pink shade?
In a word...nope!

ReplyDeleteHey :) yes the formula is rather hit n miss and annoyingly you never really know which. As this shade is nothing special I say skip it in favour of the likes of Barry M Pink Ribbon which is beautiful :)
DeleteAgreed that we don't really need yet another "candy" pink, but this one does look lovely! and i certainly am a big fan of Barry M, mainly due to the bright lip colors, but this one is a bit of a disappointment! was looking at it to buy and couldn't make my mind u, thanks for this great review

DeleteI love these shades but not as much as i love my fake tan... sooo i cant wear them! they just look so silly on my NC35 PLUS Refined Golden Bronzed skin! lol I bought Marshmallow, but it just makes me look dead :( Mac Snob is warm enough for my tanned skin though! xx

DeleteI never knew Barry M did lipsticks too! This is a great shade on you, I am defo going to check them out as I'm long due some new lippe and I'm sure these are at an affordable price x x

DeleteEvery lipstick suits you! haha you're so luckyyy, love this one! I've got a really nice dark plummy red from Barry M and the formula's fantastic but then i have another one and it's crap formula-wise! They should really try and sort that out.
