Happy Halloween everyone!
I somehow have been roped into taking the kids (my little sisters in case you thought I had secret kids!) and thought I may as well embrace it so I slicked on a quick swipe of Revlon Va Va Violet lipstick.
Yes the colour is so pretty but the formula is only so so, it is really sheer despite what the bullet might suggest and oh my goodness does it highlight any little flaw you may have on your lips. Believe it or not I actually exfoliated my lips before application...yikes!
Like I said such a pretty fall appropriate colour but I'm sure there is far superior plum lip colours out there. In my opinion this one is good for a novelty occasion i.e Halloween or a dress up party but anyone who takes make-up seriously should skip this is pursuit of a better formula!
Round Up - A mediocre performing plum lipstick.
Best For - A one off when you can't source anything better!
Availability - The majority of Revlon stockists for £6.49

This is such a disappointment to me. I've been looking at this lipstick for ages and umming and ahhing over it because it looks beautiful as it is. Think I'll give it a miss now though! x
ReplyDeleteOhh i almost bought this when looking for a plum lipstick, glad i didnt now! i opted for the purple from the recent kate moss collection, its really gorgeous but a tad darker than this!

I bought this last year in the hope it would be like the Tom Ford colour but i so agree the colour is rubbish, far too sheer and and any attempt to buid colour results in a mess. I really want a matte plum/purple any ideas where to look?

I bought this trying to copy Rebecca Furgerson last year and was so disappointed!I recommend 17 New Black for anyone after a really deep purple look x

The best purple lip colour I have ever seen and used is Stargazers purple lip gloss. Shame that was such a washout really :(

you're brave to even try a colour like that! I had the guts to do orange this summer, but I don't know about this :D

i have this also, and it works much better for me when i first apply tiniest bit of some clear sticky lipgloss and then apply this :)

Aah. I know exactly how you feel about this lippie, it's more or less the same issue I used to have with black lips. When the formula doesn't deliver I always think it's better to save the money and buy a higher end one.
ReplyDeleteFor the longest time women wanted sheer lipsticks (they're still great), but for the most part I think we all love a good pigmented lipstick. Revlon used to be that way with their dark shades, but now it's like they think they won't sell as well. Black Cherry can do the same thing on me. I have to really work it in or create a stain.
