If you have followed this blog for a while you'll know I suffer from enlarged pores and have been on a mission to reduce the size of their appearance. I bought the Botanics Skin Care range on a whim, it was on a 3 for 2 offer and I thought I owed it to myself to give it a whirl.
I'm really glad I did as okay my pores are still visible but other than getting a facial peel i'm afraid that will always be the case but this range has actually dramatically shrunk and tightened my pores, helps keep blemishes at bay and is just generally a really good skin care option. I have used this range for over a month now in order to give you the best review possible.Keep reading to find out more!
Like I said I purchased these when on a 3 for 2 offer (such offer is currently running again) but even when such offer isn't running each product is really affordable with the most expensive being £4.59.
Botanics Pore Perfecting Day SPF15 Moisture Lotion 75ml - £4.59
This is a light non greasy moisturiser that has the added bonus of an SPF 15, I personally now won't buy any day cream that doesn't contain an SPF even though I live in the UK I still feel it is vital to protect the skin from harmful rays. The scent is light and has a light hint of lemon, nothing offensive to the nose just a light fresh scent that disappears momentarily.
This lotion contains no oil but helps to mattify any natural oils on the face , it also aids in the unblocking in pores. In my opinion the best thing about it is how light it is anyone with visible pores will tell you how thick creams can often just make a bad problem worse. Although this is light it more than does the job keeping skin soft and subtle, soaking up any excess oil and providing a great base to apply make-up on.
If you have visible pores or oily/problem skin I suggest giving this a whirl as it works really well with oily problematic skin and I could actually feel it tighten my skin and pores which sounds disturbing but was actually really assuring in an odd way.
Botanics Pore Perfecting Deep Clean Mousse 150ml - £4.07
If you only pick up one item from this range then please make it this, okay at first you'll be taken aback with the gimmicky liquid to foam concept but once you wash your face with it I promise you will be a convert like myself.
Again like the matching lotion this has a light scent only this has a kind of grass smell (no not the slang word for a certain drug but fresh cut lawn scent) and the scent doesn't linger at all. This mousse is thick and really easy to use, it easily removes every little scrap of make up with next to none effort.
After one use, I kid you not there was a difference in my pores! I was absolutely dumb founded they looked a whole lot smaller and and definitely unclogged. I have continued to use this mousse cleanser for the last month and my pores have halved in size. Another thing I have noticed is my skin is a whole lot clearer and any blemish that rears its ugly head clears up a whole lot quicker than before.
Honestly if you have visible pores/oily skin/problem skin I urge you to purchase this I promise you will not be disappointed one little bit!
Botanics Pore Perfecting Toner 250ml - £4.07
This was the one product I approached with reluctance, I think it was the idea of applying clay to my face that put me off. Unlike the other products this didn't share the same scent this smelled like, well clay! It's not entirely unpleasant it just takes a little getting used to that is all.
When using this ensure you shake the product thoroughly as the clay really does settle at the bottom of the bottle and to get the benefits from the toner you need the Amazonian clay as it's purpose is to absorb any excess oil.
I'm not a great user of toner but I have made an effort to use this as it removes any tiny little trace of product you may have missed during the cleansing stage but it's best propriety is that it tightens pores and leaves the skin with a light matte finish which I love! I have used this with the above products and my skin is the best it has ever been, well since I was a pre-teen anyway!
If you have enlarged pores you could steer far worse than this toner but I also recommend this for anyone who enjoys a matte finish to their skin after cleansing.
I have used all three products for at least six weeks and I kid you not my skin is the best it has been in a long. long while! My pores are far less visible, my skin is less oily and remains so throughout the day and I get far less blemishes. Even when I do get a blemish the trio of products heal and remove the problem quicker than I have experienced before. I really do recommend giving these products a chance if you suffer from any of the skin problems I have listed.
You can pick these up at most Boots stores or order via The Boots website.

I've never thought to try the Botanics range but that Deep Clean Mousse looks like a keeper. I'll definitely need to invest in some! Silly wee question, did you notice it made any difference to the pores on your nose? It's just because I have unsightly large pores and blackheads on my nose that I can't for the life of me get rid of x
ReplyDeleteWow, these products sound amazing! But I don't think they're available here. :( The product that really fascinates me is the clay toner; anything that gives a matte finish is always welcome to me.
ReplyDeleteWow! I wang to get this range :) I have little pores visible on my cheeks but my nose always seems to be clogged up, grr! Do they do a mask in this range? I love using Dermalogica pore refining masque, give that a try once a week :) lots of love xox
ReplyDeleteI am definitely going to be trying these, they sound like exactly what I need. It sounds natural and kind to skin, I hate anything that's too strong or harsh it just makes things worse. Thanks for reviewing these! x
ReplyDelete@kirsty- I honestly wish I took before and after photos as the difference really is evident but silly me :( the pores on my nose weren't the worst offenders its the ones on my cheeks I have bother with but I can honestly say that any offending pores have shrunk :) if you have any that you wish were smaller give it a whirl :) x
ReplyDelete@LauraLeia- aww :( I thought target stocked boots products? Or I may have totally dreamed that up haha! x
@tink- hey lovely :) so annoying aren't they grr! Yes they have a mask in the range and a cleansing balm that I will review super soon :) oh thanks lovely I will give that a try :) x
ReplyDelete@danielle- yes I know exactly what you mean some products are so harsh that they do more damage than good :) most of the ingredients are natural and it is so gentle to the skin, I hope it works for you too :) x
Wow, great review. I've been looking for a good, but not too pricey, skin care regime to sort out pores and blemishes. I shall definitely be checking this out.

Hmmm I've seen this in Boots, but I always walk past it. Hmm may have to give this range a try.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting :)
I've tried the Boots botanics range before and haven't found it particularly impressive but I might try these products as I have a few large pores on my nose!
ReplyDeleteI tried one of their night creams once and really didn't like it as it made me really oily. But your review sounds fab, sounds about time I gave Botanics another chance. The mousse is definitely calling my name!
ReplyDeleteWhoa! This sounds incredible. I've been following your search for something good and this sounds amazing. :0 I must try!
ReplyDeleteI never heard of the brand, good to know, thanks for the review, take care
ReplyDeleteSMALL PORE HUNTING BUDDY!

Wow these sound fab for the price! Will certainly pick them up when I am next in Boots as I too suffer from oily skin and large pores.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I'm on the look out for some new skin care products and I think the prices are really reasonable as I hate spending too much money on beauty items. I find lotions make my skin feel alot smoother and nicer than creams and the one you mentioned sounds perfect!

This is a brilliant review! I've always seen their stuff in Boots but never really gave them a chance. I usually have dry skin, the kind where if I don't moisturise properly and exfoliate regularly my skin gets flaky and looks horrible when I apply any makeup. However, recently I've been getting really enlarged pores on the cheek area around my nose and underneath my eyes. It's so disheartening. I've never ever had anything like that before. I've unfortunately started to get horrible black heads too sigh! I'd love to try this range out because I think it will be perfect for my blackheads and pores but you reckon it'll dry out my skin badly?! xx
ReplyDeleteI've got crazy hugr pores on my nose and I've been following ur progress with a similar issue, I tried the Clinique pore minimizer and massive fail. I've always felt abit funny about buying products from the botanics range but I'm gonna give this a whirl.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you've tried Idealist by Estee Lauder, it works for me when my skin decides to like it! :)
V.informative post, great read!

i want some of this, especially the toner! i need to see if it's available in my area, never seen it before
ReplyDeleteHi Adrienne!
ReplyDeleteI've got the same problem you have with my pores! I hate that and i'm just like you in a mission against them! But NOTHING works! I write you to tell you what i'm using right now, it's "Dr. Brandt Pores No More" Pore Refiner. It is kind of one of those products that prepares your skin for make up, but it's supposed to be a treatment also. Well, the moment you use it your pores are perfect, after that you're supposed to use your moisturizer and that is where the pores start to be visible again. I don't know but i think it's not working.
Have you ever tried this product?
I'll try to find what you recommend, but I don't know if i can buy it here in Spain, where I live.
Well, thank you very much and congratulations for your blog!
xoxo

@elena - hello and thank you for your comment :) I haven't tried that but from what you have said I think I will skip it! My best recommendations are benefit porefessional if you want to 'fill' in your pores to prepare them for make-up :) if you need any other help let me know :) x
Hmm this is so intriguing.. I'm definitely checking for this line next time I'm at Target. I have to try the mousse and toner, they sound perfect for what I need. I'm only concerned that it might work a little TOO well and dry my skin since it's cold here where I live now. The price tag isn't too bad though, worth a try! Thanks for the review!!
