Carmex is and has been my go to lip balm for a long while. I tend to favor the round tubs and only ever buy the Original formula, there's something about the scent that I find comforting. Carmex really does what it says on the tin "It Soothes, It Heals, It Protects" and boy it really does. So when I saw these new Moisture plus balms in my local chemist I just had to pick one up.
I settled on the shade sheer pink but it also comes in a peach tint and plain ol' clear (un-tinted). The moisture plus balms have Vitamin E + Aloe Moisturizing Protection and an SPF 15, so great for all weathers really.
I love the sleek grey packaging, it looks more like a lipstick than a balm! Now the slant tip is a god send it means you can apply your balm without a mirror and not look demented unless you are totally cool with colouring outwith the lines? I could tell you a story about my friend who lives above an old lady that enjoys smearing red lipstick under her eyes but I wont.
Now I know tinted lip balms are nothing new and i'm sure many will draw comparisons to Vaselines Rosy Lips balm but its nothing like it in all honesty. This balm is really pigmented, soft but not so soft that it feels horrid on the lips and the pink colour really does last for a few hours. The colour is pink, bubblegum pink infact and is really wearable. I can see this shade working on the vast majority of people as it is so inoffensive shade wise.
The scent is sweet and somewhat vanilla, don't worry its not sickly sweet. What I will say is that they melt super easy as you can see from my imperfect balm and yes the slight imperfection annoys me more than you will ever know, so keep this out of the sun and heat or you will end up with a sweet vanilla mess.
Have you tried these yet?
