MAC Surf Baby Haul, Swatches and Dupes Part 1

Normally this would just be one post but MAC messed up my order and didn't send me my blush and my two other eyeshadows! As the 'My Paradise' Blush has sold out online MAC have arranged for me to collect my blush and other items next Thursday at the House of Fraser so all is not a loss!

Lipsticks

Nauturally Eccentric - which MAC describes as a creamy white nude. Yeah its white alright I look ghastly sporting it but fear not it may actually be a handy lipstick to own as you could use it as a mixing medium? i.e to tone down a bright lipstick or make a brown lipstick more nude etc etc. I can't think of any dupes at this moment but i'm guessing Barry M Marshmallow Lip Paint applied quick heavily would do the trick?

Hibiscus - MAC describes this as an orange based coral. I'm afraid its not coral but more of a red shade in my opinion, it does however have orange undertones and it is really wearable when blotted especially if you are like me and find red lipstick way out of your comfort zone. A possible dupe could be No.7's Tangerine Dream Lipstick.

Eyeshadow

Swell Baby - Is listed as a mid-tone grey which it is, I can personally see blue undertones and fine it really close to MAC's Scene eyeshadow so if you own scene i'd skip this shade. The greys in Sleek's Bad Girl palette are also close enough dupes to forgo this.

Pigments

Please note I didn't buy these with this collection but as they are part of this line I thought i'd include them.

Melon - Is perfectley described as a soft golden peach and is almost the pigment version of MAC's All that Glitters eyeshadow but the latter is clearly more brown based. For dupes I suggest Sleek's Orginal Palette.

Naked- Fleshy beige with golden copper pearl this description is very apt. This shade is the perfect browbone highlight on me it is like MAC's Blanc Type but with shimmer? Again I suggest Sleek's Orginal Palette for a dupe.

Hope this has helped a little when it comes to purchasing this collection, part two will be up next Thursday.

  13. I'm also not a Gaga fan but the lipsticks are great. The revlon matte i found that some colours are more drying than other. Personally i think mauve it over is not that drying but depends lips to lips. I also love to apply a gloss over it for a bit of shine:)

  22. I'm really not that into this collection, for some reason its just not grabbing me. I've been considering Hibiscus though so may add that one to my lippie collection, I did fancy getting Naturally Eccentric but it's definitely too light for me, I'm not even sure I like my Playing Koi!

  23. The nude lipstick looks very pretty but doesn't seem very opaque, the kind of glossy lipsticks that vanishes in 5 minutes
